O.K Here it goes, the story of Bradd and Nicole so far…

Before I got Bradd and Nicole, I had a couple of tiger oscars, Digger and Shanna.  Here they were:

Digger and Shanna

Digger and Shanna

They were quite happy, despite the fact they were an old couple. Saddly, Shanna became ill in december 2008, a virus I believe, and died. Two months later, digger lost one eye and stoped eating. He died in March 2009. In less than two months I lost my favorite pets.  :(

I had Bart and Lisa also, but they were too young at that moment, so I wanted to get a new adult breeding pair.

So I went to this fish market (no, not the one where you get fish for dinner, the one that sells pet fish), and started looking around. After an hour or so I found this little shop who had some young tiger oscars, and in a corner of the shop, in a very small and dirty aquarium I found what I was looking for.  There they were, this two beautiful lutinos looking at me, and it was love at first sigth.  The shop owner insisted they were both males, but I wasn´t so shure. Two adult male oscars together in a small tank and no killing each other ? mmmm.    Well, I didn´t want to argue abou it, so I bougth them and took them home with me.  Boy, were they happy to leave that dirty small tank…

Begining a New Journey…

As  I make the final touches to my new book about fresh water aquariums, I decided to begin a new journey, a double one.  It is a new adventure in the jungles of breeding Oscars and to the forests of writing a new book, a book about Oscar fish. I will be working on both journeys and posting here the results of my adventures.  Hopefully some fish lovers will join me and I will not be alone.  Well, let´s begin…

Bradd, The Male Lutino

But first, lets begin by introducing the family…

maggie

This is Maggie, the youngest Oscar in my aquariums. She is 4 months old and 2 inches long…

bart

This is Bart. He is 5 months old and 3 inches Long.

will

This is Willy. He is 8 months old and 6 inches long.  He is voracious !

trio

And there they are. Bart seems bigger here because of the perspective, but Willy is bigger.

And this are the main characters…

Nicole

This is Nicole. She is 13 months old and 8 and a half  inches long.

Bradd

And this is Bradd. He is 15 months old and 9 inches long.

bradnicole

They are inseparable.

How, you ask, can I know the sex of each one ? Well, I don´t.  The only ones I´m certain is Bradd and Nicole, because they are spawning and they ACT like a pair. The other ones I just use my imagination, because they are too small yet.

Well, introductions made, I will show you in the next post the story (so far) of Nicole and Bradd´s romance. Stay tuned…
